SLIS Resources

SLIS Laboratory Library

The SLIS Laboratory Library is located on the 4th floor of Helen C. White, and serves as the touchstone for the SLIS program, as both a teaching library where SLIS students have the opportunity to practice the theory learned through coursework, and as a traditional library, providing access to information in the field of library and information studies.  The SLIS Library also offers students a relaxing and comfortable place to work and relax in between classes with scenic views of Lake Mendota from its many large windows.

Library and Information Literacy Instruction

The campus Library & Information Literacy Instruction (LILI) Program collaborates with faculty, instructional staff and campus administrators to help students develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge base needed to become efficient, effective users and producers of information. SLIS students interested in academic librarianship can enroll in LIS 826: Field Project in Libraray & Information Literacy Instruction, an experience that is much like actual professional practice in a “safe” environment for learning under the direction of a professional librarian.
